Welcome

I am currently delving deeper into the roots of farmers’ traditions and ideologies. Cultural traditions are interconnected in complex ways with many aspects of farming. like daily routines and agricultural festivals. Traditions can be considered myopic, insular non-progressive and pastoral. This atmosphere is visually depicted through a micro-level study My artworks focus on the Free State farming community and broadly speaking, issues such as economic sustainability within a free market framework. politics of land ownership, water pollution, cultural farming activities and traditions and the anxiety resulting from the increasing violence of farm attacks experienced by farmers and farm workers. My approach includes various explorations into the layering of paint and/or charcoal, representing the metaphorical connectedness of the subtle integration of the aforementioned complex sub-themes.
